Your brakes are positioned on each wheel, and they utilize friction to slow the rotation of the tires so you can slow down and stop wherever you want. They are complex systems that use mechanical parts, hydraulic fluid, friction material, electrical sensors, and computer control. Some Hybrid vehicles have systems that also use generators on each tire to put energy back into the battery pack when braking.

Rotors and brake pads take a large amount of abuse, as they are the main device that turns the rotational energy into heat. Meaning that these parts are designed to wear out over time, so it’s crucial to get your brakes inspected regularly…usually at every tire rotation or anytime the tires of your vehicle are removed.

Thorough inspection

All modern cars today have to have “anti-lock” brakes, meaning that there is a computer in the brake system with sensors to control stopping power on each tire. A thorough inspection will also include looking at the diagnostics and sensors of the entire system to be certain the brakes are working properly.

If you suspect a brake issue...don't drive the vehicle until it is resolved!! A faulty braking system can be very dangerous, not just to you, but to other people on the road as well.
